we're happy to announce...
we have a real bed now!
why is this big news?
because, we've been sleeping on an air mattress for the last five months.
yes, a mattress that doesn't wobble around at every move or require a weekly pump up is a BIG deal.
lessons learned: i really appreciate furniture now after going with out for awhile.
oh and update: we're not eating off an ironing board either. we're moving up in the world, people.
yes, yesterday was exciting!
i'm not even letting the fact that some idiot broke our car window and stole a shoe and all my jewelry {it was cheap.. don't worry.}damper my mood.
and so.. if this post alluded to some that we're were expecting.
sorry..
we're not.
but, i hear a mattress is a great place to start. {wink.}
ps.. i forgot to mention my mad bartering skills. i was able to talk down the salvage yard for the replacement of said broken window, and the mattress guy...savings of seventy five smackaroos. my moto this year is,"it can't hurt to ask."
oh man i seriously got SO.EXCITED when i read the title of the post. haha.
ReplyDeletebut yay for a real bed! we had a waterbed for our first whole year of marriage. it was.. interesting... haha.
it was a california king, too! we're snugglers, so we decided to just go back to my full bed from my old room. blissful nights sleep :)
happy day!
ha.
ReplyDeletei know.. mean trick.
you know the story of the boy that cried wolf? i'm pretty sure that's how it's going to play out when i really am pregnant. :)
whoo hoo! to all of the above... xx
ReplyDeleteyeah, you totally tricked me too. geez i was so excited for you!
ReplyDeletewhen we're around family, clint always says "we have an announcement" and then says "...we've decided to stay married."
nobody is ever going to actually believe it when we have a real announcement.
hooray for a new bed!
ha ha! How come whenever we see someone say they have big news we automatically assume they're pregnant? lol Cause I totally was so excited that you were gonna have a baby! But you're right... the best place to get some good practice in is in the bed! Congrats on the new bed! (and no longer eating on an ironing board!)
ReplyDeleteDear Kate,
ReplyDeleteYou are great.
Love,
Annie
you make me laugh.
ReplyDeletewell CONGRATS guys!
ReplyDeletehehe. i love this announcement. so sneaky you are.
ReplyDeletenever take for granted the luxury of having a bed! Mine is for sure my favorite possession. :]
ReplyDeleteThanks for the monday morning giggle:)
ReplyDeletei don't know how you slept on an air mattress for so long. those things are awful. it makes me very happy you have a real bed now!
ReplyDeleteyay! that is really exciting... i barely made it on a air mattress for a week.
ReplyDeletei'll admit... i got excited too.
I really thought you had a big announcement! But a bed is a great announcement - nothing better than a nice, comfy bed. Enjoy!
ReplyDeletewhat a trick to pull.
ReplyDeletestill, having a new mattress is very exciting indeed. congrats!
Love this! You are the CUTEST! I love your smile in the 2nd picture. In case you're unaware: You are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! I remember when we went from a hand me down mattress to our own brand new mattress...it was heaven. 5 months?! We just slept on one for 2 nights and barely made it. Hooray for new things!
ReplyDeletefunny that i didn't even think it was about a baby at all.
ReplyDeletemattresses are nice.
i am grateful for mine.
:)
p.s. i forgot to say sorry about the car break in. what doofs.
ReplyDeleteTrickstir for sure! You had be going!
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
Annette
oh my goodness i hate air mattresses, but i think it's because somehow i always sleep on leaky ones and then i wake up and i'm laying on the floor. yay for "real" beds!! :)
ReplyDeletethanks guys.
ReplyDeletein answer to the questions of how we slept on an air mattress for that long...
here's the deal. imagine if you will, two air mattress stacked on top of each with blankets and sleeping bags {for simple storage purposes} stacked in between.
raise your hand if your ghetto!!! oh, that's right. it's me right here!
nah, it turns out it wasn't that bad {or that great.} the great sacrifice of the move here. i told graham we're NEVER moving again after hauling that bad boy up stairs.
That was just mean.
ReplyDeleteBut, I'm happy you have a bed! ;)
i love beds. so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteTruth of the matter we spend alot of time in bed! so I am glad you got you a good one! NOW, Do not get my hopes up again with that kind of announcemnet! and when you really are pregnant I better now find out reading your blog! ha ha
ReplyDeleteCounting the minutes, till you arrive! Love ya MOM
oh congratulations!
ReplyDeletei know your story. it's amazing the creative things you can come up with for furniture when you're a broke newlywed couple!
congrats on the mattress and promoting your ironing board back to an ironing board! yay!
Hoooray for new beds! We slept on a 10-year-old mattress for years and developed quite the back and neck problems. But we splurged on a new soft mattress and it is HEAVEN. Enjoy it, it really rules.
ReplyDeleteThis just might be your most popular post, yet. Check out all those comments. You are so loved, Miss Kate! And, I agree with Brinlee, you are so beautiful. LOVE that smile of yours! I can't wait until you DO share that one big announcement. ;)
