it's amazing how an afternoon picnic by the river will boost one's spirits.
we found a beautiful "beach," and waded our toes in the bitter cold waters. the sun warmed our faces, as we filled our bellies with our favorite sandwiches.
a happy day indeed.

Your last little line makes me so happy. I lived in Iowa for a while and did not appreciate its beauty and quaintness until after I'd left it. Seems to always be the case with me, so I'm happy you're enjoying it in the now.
