blue ribbons and pie.
we strolled through the 4H booths and tried to not gag over the smell of the prize sheep, cows, pigs, cows, and horses. (city slickers.) we admired pretty quilts and drooled over blue ribbon pies. we skipped the over priced/sketchy rides, but indulged with carni food with graham trying the turkey legs (hello sodium!) and i with a corn dog and deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich. yes, only at the fair is it socially acceptable to eat anything and everything deep fried. in fact, i'm still curious about the deep fried pepsi. what/how/why?
it was the perfect end-of-the-summer activity.
p.s. scanner is broken/died/not wanting to buy a new one. please forgive shoddy photos.

deep fried pepsi? what theeee?!
ReplyDeleteso cute! i've told my husband i want to go to the orange county fair, but since he grew up here he tells me that it's not that fun and just really expensive. so i guess i'll have to live vicariously through all the other bloggers that get to go to their state/county fairs! :)
ReplyDeletei can almost never say no to fairs and fried food. no matter how ghetto. fried pepsi! how?
ReplyDeletei recently heard about fried kool aid too!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued. Did you see what the deep fried Pepsi looked like?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to the Oregon State fair in years. My parents used to take us when we were kids. I should head back down to Salem and get a big dose of nostalgia.
Oooooh yeah! COUNTY fairs are the BOMB. seriously I still have to beg my husb to take me, even BRIBE him with all kinds of goodies cuz he hates it more than anything but I dont know what it is. I love it, and the CHEEZIER the fair, the BETTER.
ReplyDeleteDeep fried PB & J?! Sign me up!
