thirty before 30




Today, at 29 years and one week old, I'm jumping on the thirty before 30 bandwagon.  I'm hoping I can complete all of these things in the next 51 weeks. Let's hope this  doesn't fail miserably just like my January 1st resolutions do every year. 

Wish me luck, and pester me to make sure I do them all.

  1. Goal weight.
  2. Give up Diet Coke for 100 days.
  3. Run a race (any race will do.)
  4. Make my own jam. 
  5. Read thirty books (big.small. long. short.)
  6. Memorize a poem or short piece of literature. 
  7. Write thirty handwritten letters to 30 incredible people in my life.   (January 2012) 
  8. Host an outdoor dinner party for friends.  (May 2012: Low Country Boil)
  9. Rent a mini cooper for the day and drive to the coast.
  10. Eat vegetarian for one month.
  11. Take something thoughtful to all of our surrounding neighbors.  (Santa Clause cookies 12/11/2011)
  12. Submit an essay to a magazine contest. (11/28/2011- Ladies Home Journal personal essay contest.)
  13. Re-read the book of mormon. 
  14. Visit a new country.
  15. Start and finish a sewing project.
  16. Pay for a stranger's dinner.
  17. Take a class with Graham (cooking, dancing, photography etc.)
  18. Choose a major and stick with it. 
  19. Master my Grandma Bess' noodles for her famous chicken noodle soup recipe.  (January 2012)
  20. See the Grand Canyon (shocker i know! i grew up four hours away from it.) 
  21. Go to a Timber's soccer game and sit in the timber's army section. (3/31/2012:: Real SLC vs. Timbers)
  22. Try yoga. (March 2012)
  23. Complete a random act of service. (February 2012)
  24. Train travel to Canada. 
  25. Cook thirty new recipes. 
  26. Ride on a ferry boat. 
  27. Have a no-spend month.
  28. Watch 30 Rock from start to current season.
  29. Go on five local hikes.
  30. Babe in my belly. (eek! scary and exciting all at once!)  Babe arriving November 2012

    i love this list so much. can i do some of them with you? i mean. with you through the internet? or just try my best to achieve the greatness?

  13. I love your list! Some of them will have to be on my list..some I've done and some I'm not brave enough to try (no spend-month!).

    Good luck on them all (especially the scary one on the bottom...having a child is the most amazing experience I've been lucky enough to have).

    Oh, and if you need an old-hat timbers army fan then I'd totally go to a game and teach you a few of the chants!

  16. I love your list. What a good idea. It's more fun then New Years Resolutions, anyway. I cannot wait to see pictures of your beautiful babies someday. I do yoga sometimes in the safety of my own living room. I'm so very bad at it, but it feels great.

    If you are coming to St. George over Christmas I would really love to see your beautiful face. I'm not a best virtual friend these days but I do check in and think of you often.

  17. babe in the belly!!!! holy shit... like literally... to see any of us as a parent is carazy!! To me we are all still 12. But my dear, you will be an amazing mother, I can't wait to see how adorable you will be preggers, and how cool you and Graham will be as parents!!! Oh, and Grandma Bess's noodles... can you master those in say one month???
